From 1 to 6 October 2013 in Lublin, Poland was held the second International Congress "Initiative for Eastern Europe 2013". The event turned the city again in the Centre of dialogue between representatives of cultural and educational institutions, local authorities, Government and European structures. The program includes nine discussion themes, such as "Tourism" and "Social innovation", "Social corporate responsibility" "Culture without borders", "Civil society", etc. Speakers and presenters were prominent scientists, politicians, MEPs. In the framework of the Congress "Initiatives for Eastern Europe 2013" was held a contest for best cross-border project. We are pleased to share that in the category of tourism, the project "Cross-Border Istro-Pontic Destination For Cultural Tourism", funded by the CBC Romania-Bulgaria 2007-2013, MIS-ETC Code 661, won a special certificate. This is the second award, received by the project when in 2012 CBC Romania-Bulgaria 2007-2013 conducted another projects contest where CBDCT Istro-Pontic won first place for project with higher impact in the cross-border area. The project was implemented by the European Institute for Cultural Tourism "Eureka", as lead partner, together with the National Museum of History and Archeology Constanta and "Europartners" Association. With a budget of 441 000 euros, the project aimed to promote sustainable and balanced economy development in the area, through the diversification of tourism and cultural development.
Through actions taken by the project partners from Romania and Bulgaria, the project gave an opportunity for the identification and strengthening of cooperation between museums in the lower Danube, as well as stimulating economic, social and educational sector, at local and trans boundary level. The results of the project were completed with preparation of tourist routes, which include museums, monasteries, fortresses and ancient Roman roads and unique landmarks under the UNESCO. In the InterAct's promotional catalogue for 2013 is presented project "Cross-Border Istro-PonticDestination For Cultural Tourism" with lead partner NPO EUREKA. The catalogue, titled "Inspiring creativity", aims to promote the culture and creative industries in Europe and covers all European programmes for territorial cooperation: cross-border, transnational and interregional. The project CBDCT Istro-Pontic is the sole representative and example of good practice of the cross-border cooperation programme Romania – Bulgarian 2007 – 2013. This is a high recognition for the team of the project partners and the results achieved.
Project “Cross-border Istro-Pontic Destination for Cultural Tourism” won first place in the competition for projects with higher impact in the cross border area. The competition was held on 22 of November 2012 in Calarasi , Romania, within the Annual Conference of the CBC Programme Romania - Bulgaria 2007-2013. In the conference participated representatives of the Managing Authority - Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism of Romania, representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of Republic of Bulgaria and the European Commission in the person of Mr. Kyprianou Kipros. The final position was made after presentation of ten nominated projects. This award is a great acknowledgment for our efforts and results, achieved together with our partners.
